  1. Your Installation is Complete!

  3. Paltalk was installed in your windows start menu program
  4. directory and a shortcut was created on your desktop.
  5.  
  6. Thank you for your interest and remember to send Paltalk to a
  7. friend.  It's easy to do, just press the Invite button, type in
  8. their email address and click "send".
  9.

  11. "Help" from the menu or by visiting our home site on the web,
  12. Paltalk.com and viewing our FAQ (frequently asked questions).

  20. 1. Voice Conferencing!  Now you can speak to up to 50 of your
  21. Pals in a voice conference room.  These rooms can be private,
  22. password protected or you can join public chats, the choice is
  23. yours.
  24.  
  25. 2. VIDEO, VIDEO, VIDEO!  Now you can actually see your pal
  26. in addition to speaking with them.  Thats right, free video
  27. conferencing!  Dont worry if you dont have a webcam, you can
  28. still see your pal if they have one.  You can also get a
  29. webcam from Paltalk by clicking Help/Accessories.

  31. 3. Voice Mail - Simply double click an offline pal or right
  32. click any pal or click "file", "voice mail" to launch the
  33. voice mail window.  Then click "record" to record your voice
  34. mail.  Once the mail has been recorded, click "send" to mail
  35. the message.  Remember to type your pal's address in the "TO"
  36. field so Paltalk knows where to send the voice mail.

  38. 4. New audio controls are now available during an audio call.
  39. Two sliders allow you to control the output of your mike and
  40. the volume of your speakers.

  42. 5. Enhanced Privacy - Simply click Setup / Preferences from the
  43. main window and set new privacy settings.  You can now control
  44. whether other users see your email address, first and last names.
  45. Also, you can choose who may contact by choosing the level of
  46. online privacy you desire.

  49. Quick Tips to get started:

  52. To Add Buddies to you list:
  53. Click the "Add Pal" button, fill out any information you know.
  54. You do not need to fill in all the fields.  You can just fill in
  55. just the email or the first name and a couple of letters of their
  56. last anem and then hit the Search button.  A list of those people
  57. matching the your search criteria will be displayed.  If your
  58. buddy is listed, click on them and then click the Add Pal button.

  60. To Talk:
  61. When you open the program, online users will appear in bold type.
  62. To call a user, double click on their name.  Once they answer,
  63. hold down the "ctrl" key on your keyboard to talk and release it
  64. to listen.
  65.  
  66. To Hangup:
  67. Click on the phone off the hook icon to hangup.  You can also double
  68. click on the buddy in the main list that you are talking to as
  69. an alternate way to hangup.
  70.  
  71. To Text Chat:
  72. Single click to highlight a  user and then click on the Text/Video
  73. button on the bottom left of the main wiindow.  This will bring up a
  74. communicator window to that person.  From that window simply type your
  75. message and hit Enter.  If the user is not online when you send a
  76. text message, the message is stored and they will recevie it as soon
  77. as they login the next time.

  79. Communicator Window:
  80. The text chat window described above can do much more than just text
  81. chat with a person so the window is more aptly descibed as a
  82. communication window.  From the communicator window you can text chat,
  83. audio call, video call and send files.

  85. To Video:
  86. Bring up a communicator window with the person you wish to exchange
  87. video with.  You do this by selecting an online buddy from the main
  88. window and pressing the Text/Video button.  Then press the Video button.
  89. Your buddy will be asked if they agree to turn on video and if they do
  90. the screen will enlarge and you will see two images on the right.  One
  91. of you and one of them.  The image of you should show fluid movement.
  92. The image of your buddy will update in snap shots, one every couple
  93. of seconds.

  95. Chat Rooms:
  96. Click the "Group" icon at the top of your Pal List to join existing
  97. voice or text groups, to create your own private groups or to create
  98. new public groups accessible to everyone.

  100. Right Click Menu:
  101. All functions are also accessible with a right click menu which
  102. may be seen by right clicking on a user (whether online or
  103. offline).

  105. Help Screen:
  106. There is extensive help which may be accessed by clicking the
  107. Help menu on the top right of the PalList.
  108.  
  109. Ctrl-key Talk Mode:
  110. Now you can easily use the CTRL key on your keyboard to talk and
  111. listen with paltalk.  First, make sure Hands Free mode is NOT
  112. checked under Options on the main widnow. Then, when you're
  113. in an audio call with someone, just press and hold the CTRL key
  114. to talk and release it to listen.

  116. Hands Free Mode:
  117. This feature may be selected by uners Options off the main window.
  118. This feature will allow you to talk hands free without having to
  119. hold down the CRL key to talk.  For this feature to work correctly
  120. you must adjust a threshold meter.  Please see the Hands Free
  121. section explained in the help to explain fully how to do this.

  123. Send Paltalk to a friend:
  124. If you'd like to talk to a frined using Paltalk who's not currently
  125. a Paltalk member you can easily invite them to join by clicking
  126. "Invite" on the front panel of your PalList.  A dialog box will
  127. then be displayed for you to input your pals email address or to
  128. search for the address in your address book if you choose.

  130. File Transfer:
  131. You can send a file to an online pal by right-clicking their name
  132. and selecting 'File Transfer'.  Then pick a file from your desktop
  133. machine and send it along!

  135. Privacy:
  136. This feature allows you to restrict people from contacting you
  137. unless they are on your PalList.  Simply click Setup / Privacy
  138. Blocking to invoke this feature.
